Wholesale and Retail Operations level 2 students at the Vredendal Campus

The Hub for the Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) for Climate Smart Agriculture funded by the European Union was launched at the Vredendal Campus of the West Coast College on the 24th of March 2024. Various stakeholders in the Matzikama region which are part of the Matzikama Raisin Farming Industry value chain were present at the launch to add value to this initiative.

Such was the success of this launch that the Wholesale and Retail SETA immediately offered to fund a Wholesale and Retail Operations Learnership L2 Programme. This programme will add value to the Wholesale and Retail Sector in the Matzikama area. The aim is to prepare a skilled labour force that will be employable within the Wholesale and Retail Industry.

Thirty learners commenced the 12-month learnership on the 22nd of April 2024 and will finish the programme in April next year. All learners are afforded an opportunity by various retail shops in Vredendal to get their work experience. For this, we are grateful to all companies involved as they have shown vision and willingness to contribute to tackling the scourge of future unemployment possibilities for these learners
