As part of the West Coast TVET College Centre of Vocational Excellence (WCC CoVE) action plan, training workshops ranging from computer to engineering technical skills were the standout item that most farmers indicated they need.
On the 19th of October 2024, the WCC CoVE hub hosted a basic computer training workshop for farm workers as part of their action plan.
The training workshop took place at the WCC Vredendal campus. These training events will be continuous and will form a series that will cover different aspects of computer skills. The first training focused on:
Keyboarding skills - the participants were trained on how to use the keyboard and the different functions of the keyboard.
Email etiquette - the participants were taught how to structure emails and to use email signatures.
Microsoft Word and PowerPoint basics were also introduced to the participants.
The next series of trainings will be held in November and thereafter all participants who attend and fully complete the trainings will be awarded with certificates. Special gratitude goes to our Lecturers who facilitated the trainings.
