As part of our ongoing commitment to advancing vocational training in agriculture, Lovedale TVET College proudly part of the EU-funded Centres of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) South Africa recently participated in an engaging Seasonal Crop Planting Demonstration led by our dedicated agricultural expertise lecturers at the Khanya Nursery, our key stakeholder.
This hands-on activity marked Phase 1 of a broader initiative aimed at empowering both students and local farmers with practical skills in smart and sustainable agriculture. The demonstration focused on planting seeds, providing students with foundational knowledge on crop preparation, planting strategies, and identifying key elements to look for during the planting process.
Students enthusiastically participated in this interactive session, which forms a core part of our experiential learning model. Their excitement reflected a genuine passion for agriculture and a growing interest in becoming future leaders in the sector especially in smart agriculture, which incorporates modern techniques and technologies.
Looking ahead, Phase 2 of the project will extend the planting demonstration to our farmers once seedlings are ready, offering them the same opportunity to learn, collaborate, and grow. This two-phased approach ensures that knowledge transfer happens across multiple levels, supporting both academic and occupational outcomes.
We look forward to expanding on this momentum as we continue to lead with innovation and collaboration in agricultural training.
