We at Boland College are excited to announce our recent strides in developing a robust partnership within our Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE). This initiative is a leap forward in blending academia, local government, and the private sector to cultivate an environment of knowledge, innovation, and consensus.
Our key goal is to create collaborative platforms addressing local challenges unique to the CoVE. These platforms, or CoVE hubs at each participating TVET college in the project, involve regular dialogues with industry representatives. The focus is on tackling issues, offering solutions, and establishing effective communication channels.
Central to the project’s efforts are Training of Trainers (TOT) programs, aimed at equipping our staff to effectively engage with stakeholders and encourage their involvement in the Centre of Excellence. The ToT in which we recently participated helped us in planning to engage with the private agro-processing sector to build sustainable partnerships. The training’s focus was on how we, as an agriculture college ‘on the ground’, will facilitate the CoVE partnership.
Prior international training programs have greatly benefitted our agriculture department lecturers. We're dedicated to reinvesting this knowledge into Worcester's farming community, with a special focus on the unemployed youth. By facilitating the CoVE hub, we aim to make a significant impact in reducing unemployment and offering meaningful opportunities.
We are committed to the success of the Centre of Excellence project, building a network of diverse stakeholders united in solving communal challenges. Our mission in the CoVE is clear: to deliver top-notch training and make a real difference in our community.
Thank you for your continued support and belief in our vision.
Vincent Uys, Boland College.
